Driving Instructor Class (Adams County)
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office will offer a Law Enforcement Driving Instructor Training Program designed to equip participants with the skills necessary to instruct law enforcement driving in both academy and in-service environments. Course topics include coaching methodologies, course design, legal liability, vehicle dynamics, remedial training techniques, and skills development. The program also provides participants with the opportunity to instruct novice drivers.
On the first day of training, students must successfully pass a POST-required pre-test consisting of four maneuvers: the turnabout and reverse serpentine, perception/reaction lane change, 180-degree diminishing curve, and high-speed lane change. Successful completion of the skills pre-test is required to continue in the course. On the final day, students must pass a timed, full-course practical examination.
Participants must be currently employed by a law enforcement agency and are required to provide a department-issued vehicle for training.
Morning and afternoon refreshments will be provided; however, students are responsible for their own lunches.
