
Driving Instructor Course

The Driving Instructor Training Program will provide student instructors with the necessary skills and experience to successfully teach driving skills to a wide variety of students and will prepare them to teach as a Colorado POST recognized Driving Instructor in both an academy or in-service setting. At the conclusion of this course, student instructors will have the necessary understanding of the fundamentals of vehicle operations, vehicle dynamics, driver safety, teaching and coaching techniques, driving course design, remedial driver training, and legal liability. Throughout the week student instructors will design and teach new driving courses, hone their driving skills, participate in hands-on coaching exercises, and put their skills to work teaching law enforcement driving skills to novice drivers.
Attendees need to provide their own vehicles.
Please note the following schedule: Monday – Wednesday is 0800-1700. Thursday is 0800-2200. Friday is 0800-1200.

Students must notify the sponsoring training region/provider at least 14 days prior to the training if they are not able to attend the training. If sufficient notification is not provided, your agency may be restricted from receiving future regional POST grant funding (class, scholarship, training equipment) for a period of up to six (6) months. Any penalties issued will be at the sole discretion of the training region boards.
